PARTY LINE: NYC Edition

The weekend swiftly approaches and the weather is warm. OperatorNYC has some suggestions to get your head moving in the right direction.

Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That! No, that's not what Dick Cheney says everytime he bags a lawyer. It's the Beastie Boys' new concert film. The Beasties handed out 50 Hi8 cameras to fans in order to capture the live spectacle. Let's hope these amateur Pennebaker's spent more time ogling the band than the girl in Row D.
If three MC's (and one DJ) isn't your thing, how about two art stars in one crazy film? Drawing Restraint 9 is the latest by Matthew Barney, in which he stars with his babymomma Bjork (who composed the soundtrack). Will there be tons of vaseline? Yes. Will it be comprehensible? Depends on how many drugs you plan on taking. Now playing at the IFC Center.

For the book-minded, we hear some guy named David Sedaris is doing a reading tonight at Town Hall. Apparently he's very humorous.

Saturday you can go to Hell. Hell the opera, that is, now at PS 122. It's by poet Eileen Myles and composer Michael Webster and described as: "Inspired by Dante's Inferno and post 9/11 events, HELL takes up an elegiac and musical cudgel on behalf of free speech and sings out against the endless waging of war." Kind of does sound like hell if you ask us. Or, perhaps hell is not having a ticket to The Flaming Lips at Webster Hall. Try craigslist.

Sunday Morrissey Night at Sway. Might as well slide into the Monday blues with the king of mope.

That's the weekend dispatch. OperatorNYC is going to put more whiskey in his cheerios and contemplate whether or not to leave the house at all.
