Call Sheet: All Art Tards Please Get On the Shortbus

Hedwig creator John Cameron Mitchell's latest feature, Shortbus, is going to premiere at The Cannes Film Festival and we at the Operator couldn't be more excited. Amnesia Sparkles, who apppears in the film, got the scoop straight from JCM himself. Hopefully by playing Cannes this revolutionary film will get distribution here in the states.

Shortbus is a Manhattan La Ronde of sorts, which isn't necessarily revolutionary. But showing these couples--gay, straight, and everything in-between--having actual, messy, sweaty, un-Hollywood-ized sex on camera is. It's porn with a plot--and a heart. The characters, and various and sundry freaks (the good kind) all interact at shortbus, an artist salon is run by Justin Bond (the incomparable Kiki of Kiki and Herb).

OperatorNYC is dying to see this film and hopes it makes a splash at the Festival. Maybe JCM will pick up a new shirt for in time for the premiere. [via Gawker]
