411: Monkeys with Vices

If there's one thing you know we love here at The Operator it's monkeys. Especially monkeys who smoke and drink.

Chinese chimp Xiku was an avid smoker, who picked up the habit while travelling with the circus (Dude! Carnies totally taught us to smoke too).

For awhile, he was up to four packs a day, but the chain-smoking monkey managed to cut down his intake with the aid of booze. His keepers say:

"We sometimes gave him some sunflower seeds or a bottle of beer to help him shake off the addiction and visitors are no longer allowed to throw him cigarettes."

Why is it Xiku can quit, but everytime we have a beer or two our urge to smoke increases?
