The Ring-A-Ding: Milk Gets Bio-pic, Gay Ass Gets Cotton Q-Tip, Police get Bashing Tip
Friday is always a slow news day, and that is true in QueerLand as well. Nothing major to report which is probably best because operatorLA is so tired of the relentless religious and sports homophobia stories that dominated headlines this week. So let's get to something he can really get excited about:
Bryan Singer. operatorLA has a new boyfriend so step aside Eric Himan. Bryan Singer has almost everything operatorLA has been looking for in a husband. Dark hair, cute, talented, Jewish, gay and if he is hiding any tattoos anywhere- watch out! Singer, whose previous films were obviously not gay enough, has signed on to direct a Harvey Milk Bio-pic. In other Harvey Milk news, it appears as if the deceased Gay Rights activist will be getting his own statue in San Francisco! [365 gay]
As if gay men didn't have enough options for things to stick up their bums, seems like they will get another one- and this time the recommendation comes from doctors. Not only are these at home anal Pap smear kits going to help our health, think of all the fun those of you into role playing will have. [via queerty]
In related ass news, Experts have long believed it, and now there's hard evidence to support it: Condoms dramatically reduce the risk of transmitting a virus that causes genital warts and most cases of cervical cancer. The HPV virus is also the believed cause of anal caner in men and experts believe that condom use will protect against this type of transmission in men who have anal sex with men. Yet another reason to be safe! [via The Advocate]
Reports are coming in that in early June, a Tucson man was lured from a local gay bar into a nearby car and had a gun pointed at his head by another man and two companions. He spent three days in the hospital but feared so muchfor hiss safety that he only filed an anonymous report with the police. Let's hope they find the assholes who did this.
In related bashing news, Kevin Aviance, who was bashedearliere this month as well, has come out to say he will not be a victim but will stand up to those who perpetrate violence. Aviance to his attackers: "I'm so sorry that you chose the wrong queen!" [via towleroad]
