The Ring-A-Ding: Fiji Gay Sex is Cool, Trans Boy to Enter FL School, Money Goes to DC's Men in Blue and CA Gays get Court Review

A previously unofficial stance on consensual gay sex on the island of Fiji has now been confirmed, there will no longer be arrests for men engaging in homosexual sex. The news was welcomed by the New Zealand AIDS foundation, who have long suspected a link between driving the gay community underground and increased levels of HIV infection. Pros- less gays afraid to do what comes naturally. Cons- lots of sand in some not so convenient places. [via pink news]

Chalk this one up to knowing you were different at a young age. A five year old transgendered boy will enter kindergarten in the Broward County, FL school system. This county has one of the most progressive policies on transgendered students and it this student will be the youngest in their system. Let's hope that "Pat" (not the child's real name) doesn't get mixed up in any playground games of Doctor. [via pageone q]

The District of ColumbiaÂ’s Metropolitan Police DepartmentÂ’s Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit has won an Innovations in American Government Award for reaching out to aundeserveded community and creating a model for community policing. They get $100,000 for their program. We get some cops who might actually fall for our shameless flirting when we get pulled over. [via pink news]

In further news of the blah, blah, blah... operatorLA is so sick of talking about gay marriage. But you might not be, so- The California Court of Appeal heard oral arguments this week in six cases that will decide whether excluding same-sex couples from marriage violates the California Constitution. No matter what their verdict, we still ain't getting hitched anytime soon. [via pink news]
