Curtain Call: Ashlee Simpson

When we read the rumor on the internets that Ashlee Simpson was the latest performer courted to star in Chicago, we almost gagged. The show thrives on a revolving door of boldface names, some talented (Usher, apparently) and some not so much (see: Griffith, Melanie). But Ashlee Simpson? Is she really going to make theatregoers La La? On a side note, what the fuck is Haylie Duff doing on Broadway in Hairspray?

We contacted one of our operatives, who confirmed that Simpson the younger would definitely take the stage in London (her request). We guess they're going to see how she does in the UK before booking her for a run in New York. Give 'em the old razzle dazzle, Ashlee.

In related news, Ashlee Simpson's old nose will headline a production of Oklahoma! at the Scarsdale Community Theatre.
