The Ring-A-Ding:CA Protection At School, FL Candidate is a Tool, Denying Blacks and Gays is Not Cool

The California State Assembly has finally passed a bill which will protect gay and lesbian students and school staff from abuse. operatorLA is happy with this proclamation and knows what it is like to be called a "faggot" in school hallways, but he is still surprised that something like this is considered progressive. operatorLA used to live in Florida, for way too long, so he knows that the State runs red more often that naught. It is still the South. Well, Randall Terry is just proving the general stupidness of the conservatives in that state, as well as their commitment to "family values." It appears that Terry's adopted son Jamiel says the a campaign picture of Terry and his family is missing two people: he and his sister Tila, also adopted. Both have been estranged from Terry since Jamiel came out as a gay man and Tila had a child out of wedlock. [via 365 gay]

We have never understood why other minorities who have won long battles to gain their civil rights don't jump into the ring to fight for us queers. And it appears that we are not the noly ones wondering- this article in USA TODAY addresses the issue within the black community.
