As if our military and government was not bigoted and misogynistic enough, they have found a new way to incorporate the two. It seems that women are two times more likely to be dismissed under the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy than men. While women account for approximately 15 percent of the armed forces, they totaled 30 percent of those dismissed under the gay ban in fiscal year 2005.
A new book from the authors of a previous tome about the life and work of President Bush's political adviser Karl Rove claims Rove's stepfather was gay, The [Austin] American-Statesman reports. Not only that but it seems that Rove and his Step-Father were close . Nothing like working hard to help protect the rights of your family members. [via The Advocate]
Florida attorney general Charlie Crist won the Republican nomination Tuesday to replace Gov. Jeb Bush, soundly defeating state chief financial officer Tom Gallagher, a same-sex marriage foe. while is good news, it is not great. Crist is still a Republican and Katharine Harris is still in the race to become Senator.
