Curtain Call: Nerd Alert!

Here in the East Coast branch of the Operator, we have the dubious pleasure of tracking the latest theatre news. It has come to our attention that a big budget musical based on The Lord of the Rings is currently running in Toronto. Musical theatre nerds and fantasy nerds assembled in one place? All we're saying is, if they drop a bomb on the theatre, ain't nobody going to be left to tutor your kid in algebra or sing the lead in your church's production of Godspell. [via playbill]

Broadway.com has their 2006 spring preview which they describe as:

Free, indispensible online guide for theater lovers attempting to navigate their way through the spring season on Broadway. Intended to help build buzz for the 15 new plays, musicals and revivals opening in just six weeks and to highlight the quirks, marquee names and other selling points that make every offering unique and desirable. You're welcome.

If by that you mean shamelessly hyping that Earth, Wind and Fire musical or Disney's Tarzan then really, We've no need to thank you.
