The Directory: Rudy's Barbershop

operatorLA has finally done it. After months of internal debate, he finally got a free hour and rushed over to Rudy's Barbershop in Silverlake for a new shorter look. Gone are the shaggy headed hipster days. Hello, product filled, short haired hipster days.

If you are in LA or in Seattle, the only place in operatorLA's opinion to get a haircut is at Rudy's, if not for the stylists' talents, then just for the atmosphere. Rudy's in Silverlake is located in an old mechanic's garage. The place is huge and industrial. The walls are covered with posters, collages and art. You can hear the music blaring from the street and not only can you come here to hang out and get your hair shorn but you can buy CD's and magazines too.

You can request the same stylist everytime you go but the best thing to do is call ahead, have your name put on the list, show up when they tell you to and take whatever stylist yells out your name. There is something about the surprise factor that operatorLA adores. If you do not call ahead you may have to wait an hour or more to get your ass in a chair.
