Guffman Going to Broadway?

Should we be getting out our dance belts and tubes of chapstick? Maybe. While promoting his upcoming film For Your Consideration, Guest was asked whether or not we'll see a "Red, White, and Blaine" revival.

"Guest replied,'Well, it's funny you should say that. I was approached recently by somebody who wanted to do Waiting for Guffman as a Broadway show. … Now that you bring it up, if you think it's a good idea, maybe we'll do it. It's an amusing idea.'"

An amusing idea, yes. A good idea...well, that depends. If anyone could make it work, it's Guest and co., but considering how many movies-turned-musicals go heinously wrong, we're content to just watch the DVD. And maybe if we're drunk enough, we'll restage the big numbers in our living room.
